Attachment and Relationships in the Classroom

There has been a growing interest in Attachment Theory in the light of more recent research on the
way early experiences may shape brain development and the nature of learning.
Reviewing attachment theory and the recent research, this course explores the role of important attachments in early
development. Focus is on the influence of these first relationship patterns on later behaviour and learning. The
implications for working with children with individual and special educational needs are considered, alongside practical
strategies for meeting their needs in school.
